Bridgestone retreading operations at the Bandag facility in Lanklaar, Belgium will cease in the coming months. In a statement issued today, Bandag Europe NV announced its intention to close the retreading plant, most likely in the first half of 2025. The company stresses that it has “no other option than to take structural measures” such as this in response to the “significant decrease” in the European retreading market over the past ten years, a trend that has resulted in production overcapacity and uncompetitive production costs.
